Phoenix Furisode

The Phoenix furisode is lavishly decorated, even for a furisode. This kimono has outstanding  possibilities for photography and fashion styling work. The lining and kimono body aren made of an intricately woven silk, with designs woven into the fabric itself. On top of this overall design is an intricate interlinking handpainted background. Every inch of the silk fabric is covered by this crenellated design. In the kimono artisan workshop top that crated this work of art, stencils were used to ensure precision. The background stenciling has two contrasting color themes… Teal and black on a white background that flows from the top of shoulders down the right sleeve.  In the body of the piece the stenciled background becomes light green and Cherry Blossom pink on a pale yellow background.  The edges of each each finger of color are silver foiled,  giving the body of the kimono the capability of showing outstanding reflectivity at every angle in photography work.  Painting the design on the background gives this kimono fabric good flexibility,  something that you don’t find in heavily embroidered versions of the same thing.

The Phoenix motif starts on the right shoulder with the design cascading harmoniously throughout the furisode. The Phoenix is represented with bright white, shades of cream team, and plenty of gold thread highlight work. The Phoenix Furisode has a rinzu silk lining with orange ombre dye work that fades to cream. This vintage piece is in absolutely perfect like new condition.
