Green and Orange Furisode

This is a Rinzu silk furisode in orange, cream, and green with hand painted paulownia blossoms and gold accents.

Furisode (振袖) literally translates as swinging sleeves—the sleeves of furisode average between 39 and 42 inches (110 cm) in length. Furisode are the most formal kimono for unmarried women, with colorful patterns that cover the entire garment. They are usually worn at coming-of-age ceremonies (seijin shiki) and by unmarried female relatives of the bride at weddings and wedding receptions.

  • Rinzu silk, with a white Rinzu silk lining that has been ombre dyed on the edge

  • Design combines stencils and freehand silk dye techniques

  • 24 karat gold accents are found in the form of gold wrapped stitching, tracing the contours of the flower. Gold is also applied in stencils to accent the design
