This item is a panel from a Tomesode kimono. The panel features a phoenix motif at the bottom of the panel in golden silk three dimensional embroidery, surrounded by flowing phoenix feathers. The design is dynamic, with the phoenix feathers up to the middle of the panel. The portions of the Phoenix that are hand-painted are in a transparent yellow gold with cream highlights, in the end of the feathers are shown in a mustard colored to contrast with the orange red background.

The panel background is floral, with several stylized floral motifs. The floral stenciled designs are in two complimentary shades of green, with orange and cream.

The hand painted chrysanthemums are surrounded by gold silk floss embroidery and enhanced with the application of gold foil along the edges of the design, and gold foil to enhance the middle of flowers. Floral designs appear in orange yellow lights, as well as white and cream. There are hints of delicate blue shades buried in the green background.

A few age spots spots appear in one light wave on the panel and a picture has been included of those.
